Ato Boldon of Trinidad and Tobago recorded the third-fastest 200 meters ever at the Stuttgart International track meet, 19.77 seconds.

American Allan Johnson flew over the 110-meter hurdles in 12.97, missing the world record held by by .06 seconds. Cuba’s Ana Quirot won the 800 meters in 1:55.78, the year’s best time by more than a second. Germany’s Tim Lobinger upped the best leap this season in the pole vault to 19 feet, 5 inches.
