Devils Take Legion Title

George Petticrew led the Blue Devils to a 14-0 five-inning victory over the Royals on Friday, as the winners clinched the AAA American Legion baseball championship.

Petticrew threw a three-hitter and went 3 for 4 with four RBIs. Teammate Eric Bell also had four RBIs, his coming on a grand slam in the sixth inning.

Golf

University of Oregon junior Ben Crane and Ryan Kelly, from Bremerton, have advanced to the final round of match play in the 1997 PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, Ore.

In Friday’s semifinals, Kelly defeated Barry Walters 6 and 4 and Crane defeated Dusty Brett 1 up after 21 holes.

Today’s final match will be 36 holes.

Spokane golfers Kyle Kelly and Darren Slackman were eliminated in the third round on Thursday.
