Lorraine Rowell Spokane

Funeral Mass for Lorraine M. Rowell, 67, is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rowell died Sunday, while visiting in Tacoma.

She was born in Minneapolis, Minn.

She had lived in Spokane for 42 years and worked in food services.

Mrs. Rowell was a member of St. Augustine Parish.

Survivors include three sons, Michael and Patrick Rowell, both of Spokane, and Richard Rowell of Washougal, Wash.; two daughters, Mary Howard and Renee Martin, both of Spokane; a brother, Joseph Boldt of Spokane; five sisters, Audrey Pfitzner, Judy Helmuth and Kathleen Wagner, all of Spokane, Donna Hayes of Topeka, Ill., and Billie Marcus of Augusta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.

Irene Miller Post Falls

Visitation for Irene Marie Miller, 67, is scheduled from noon to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Miller, who died Wednesday, was born in Oklahoma.

Mrs. Miller retired from General Instruments after 20 years of service.

She moved to the Post Falls area in 1947 from California and had worked in housekeeping and at the Coeur d’Alene Greyhound Park.

She was a member of Falls Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Oscar; two sons, Gary Miller of Twin Lakes and Joe Miller of Post Falls; three daughters, Sandra Hammer of Post Falls, Diane Gillaspy of Nevada, and Jeannie Rubringer of Spirit Lake, Idaho; three sisters, Evelyn Willis and Anna Burt, both of California, and Norene Hand of Centerville, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Carrol Collins Bayview, Idaho

Graveside service for Carrol Collins, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Collins, who was born in Stites, Idaho, died Wednesday.

He moved to Bayview in 1972 and had worked as a logger for many years before retiring due to illness.

Mr. Carroll served in the Army and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Athol and Cheney American Legion Posts, and the Hayden Lake Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Laura; three sons, William Collins of Bayview, Chris Collins of Wyoming, and Terry Collins of Westport, Wash.; three daughters, Margurite Durr of Rathdrum, Amy Collins of Texas, and Lorry Scraper of Republic, Wash.; two brothers, Jim Collins of Bayview and Dick Collins of Oregon; four sisters, Dorthey Haslett of Spokane, Wanda Thor of Auburn, Wash., Carolyn Mitchel of Colbert, and Darleen Henry of Chattaroy, Wash.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Corey Smith Post Falls

Memorial service for Corey Lynn Smith, 33, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Mr. Smith, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Wednesday in a motorcycle accident in Post Falls.

He lived in the Post Falls area most of his life and had worked as a welder for Ironman Safe Co. in Dalton Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, Tyson Smith of Marysville, Wash., and Devin Smith, of Post Falls; a daughter, Christina Smith of Marysville, Wash.; his parents, Bart and Beverly Smith of Post Falls; two sisters, Connie Wick of Spokane and Reena Yonker of Nevada; a brother, Tom Smith of Nevada; and his grandmother, Lavonne Linnemeyer of Post Falls.

Kathy Huether Spokane

Service for Kathy Huether, 54, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the HennesseySmith Funeral Home.

Ms. Huether, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.

She worked for NAPA Auto Parts and was the company’s first female manager in the Pacific Northwest. She was branch manager of the year in 1991 and 1992 and was the first woman to receive this recognition.

Survivors include her partner, Vanessa; two sons, Larry “Sonny” Frick of Spokane and Carl Frick of Tampa, Fla.; her mother and father, Audrey and Herman Huether of Spokane; two sisters, Sue Huether of Sandy, Utah, and Betsy Schieber of Mead; a brother, David Huether of Woodinville, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Robert Ullrich Olympia

Memorial service for Robert Henry “Bob” Ullrich, 56, was Friday at Olympic Funeral Home in Olympia.

Mr. Ullrich, who was born in Yankton, S.D., died Sunday.

He graduated from North Central High School and Spokane Falls Community College with an associate of arts degree in computer programming.

He worked for the State of Washington in Olympia for 24 years.

Mr. Ullrich is survived by wife, Carol; a daughter, Brenda; and a son, Ricky both of Colorado Springs, Colo; his mother, Virginia Ullrich of Spokane; a sister, Pat Byington of Seattle; three brothers, Ron Ullrich, Don Ullrich both of Seattle, and Gary Ullrich of Spokane; a stepdaughter, Michelle; a stepson, Seth, both of Olympia; and a granddaughter.

Maxine Baker Spokane

Graveside memorial service for Maxine V. Baker, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Baker, died July 13.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane for 55 years.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband of 32 years, Earl; a son, Vern Jacobs, and a daughter, Janice Lee, both of Spokane; four step-children; a sister, Lorraine Barnes of Seattle; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Lucille Cunningham Spokane

Graveside service for Lucille E. Cunningham, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cunningham, who was born in Walker, Minn., died Thursday.

She worked as nurse and had lived in Spokane for 45 years.

Her husband, Clarence Cunningham, died in 1988.

She is survived by a son, Ron Cunningham; and a sister, Pauline Kasseroff of California.

Muriel Blackwelder Carey Salida, Colo.

Service for Muriel Blackwelder Carey, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Carey, who died Wednesday, was born in Jennings, Okla.

She had worked as a nurse and was a longtime Spokane resident.

Mrs. Carey is survived by her husband, Henry; a daughter, Billie Jean Forx of Westcliff, Colo.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Altman Spokane

Service for Kathleen Altman, 94, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Altman, who was born in England, died Wednesday.

In 1928 she moved to Klamath Falls, Ore., and married Herbert Altman. He died in 1993.

She worked as a seamstress for several department stores in Portland and also worked out of her home.

Mrs. Altman moved to Spokane 11 years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Montgomery of Spokane and Geraldine Cook of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a son, Herbert Altman of Spokane; a brother, Will Burn of England; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Leland Martin Spokane

Visitation for Leland W. Martin, 78, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon today at the Heritage Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Martin, a 45-year Spokane resident, died Wednesday.

He was born in Nez Perce, Idaho.

Mr. Martin served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Pensacola as a range finder.

He later worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 33 years and retired in 1985 as a foreman.

He was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local No. 338 and served as chaplain of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435.

Survivors include his wife, Maryjoria.

Roland ‘Lewis’ McKee Spokane

Memorial service for Roland “Lewis” McKee, 72, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McKee, a 45-year Spokane resident, died Saturday.

He was born in Dudley, Ohio.

Mr. McKee worked as a surveyor for Washington Water Power for 29 years.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ruth; two daughters, Karen McKee of Portland and Janet McKee of Spokane; a brother, Lawrence McKee of Federal Way, Wash.; and three sisters, Willie Ann Gill of Caldwell, Ohio, Virginia Pickenpaugh of Akron, Ohio, and Faye Madden of Silver City, N.M.

Frederick Koch Ione, Wash.

Service for Frederick Alexander “Fred” Koch, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Riverside Cemetery in Ione. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Koch, who was born in Hillyard, died July 10.

He worked as a logger and as a bush pilot in Alaska.

Mr. Koch is survived by a daughter, Angelic Koch of Sandpoint; a son, George “Skip” Moles of Usk, Wash.; two brothers, Louis Koch of Ione, and Joe Koch of Colville, Wash.; a sister; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Funkhouser Spokane

Graveside service for Mary R. Funkhouser is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Funkhouser, 71, died July 12.

She was a lifetime Spokane resident and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Frank Funkhouser Sr., died in 1985.

Mrs. Funkhouser is survived by three sons, Chris Brinkman, and Frank and Aaron Funkhouser, all of Spokane; a daughter, Sharon Brinkman of Spokane; her mother, Helen Moylan of Spokane; three brothers, Robert Vigil of Spokane, and Don and Tom Vigil both of Seattle; two sisters, Virginia Gardner of Griffin, Ga., and Corrine Powers of Spokane; and seven grandsons.

Alvina Spuler Veradale

Memorial service for Alvina L. Spuler, 89, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Opportunity Christian Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Spuler, who was born in Portland, died Monday.

She married Morris Guyer and they made their home in Klamath Falls, Ore. They moved to Spokane in 1945.

In 1961 she married Andrew Spuler and worked for Moloney and O’Neill Insurance for 25 years.

Her husband Andrew preceded her in death.

Mrs. Spuler is survived by two daughters, Norma Baker of Spokane and Nadene McKnight of Port Angeles, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Dolores Spuler of Walla Walla; two granddaughters; two stepgranddaughters; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Norman Green Spokane

Memorial service for Norman A. Green, 78, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mr. Green, a 75-year Spokane resident, died Wednesday.

He was born in Ruthton, Minn.

Mr. Green served in the 8th Army Air Corps during World War II as a crew chief and aerial engineer.

He later returned to Spokane and worked for the Spokane Fire Department for 33 years. He retired in 1979 as a battalion chief.

He was a member of the Washington State Association of Retired Fire Chiefs, International Association of Fire Fighters Local No. 29, and the Eagles Lodge No. 2.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Roberta; two sons, Alan Green of Spokane and James Green of Redmond, Wash.; a daughter, Carol Green of Edmonds, Wash.; a sister, Helen Finn of Tacoma; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

George ‘Sam’ Boyd Spokane

No service will be held for George Samuel “Sam” Boyd, 99, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Boyd died July 11.

He served in France in the Army during World War I. He worked as a salesman for Barton Oldsmobile and DeWitt Wallace, and later was a real estate broker.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of 72 years, Helene; two daughters, DawnNita Boyd at home and Deniece Boyd of Newport, Wash.; a son, Dwane Boyd of West Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ray Pangburn Spokane

Visitation for Ray Pangburn, 77, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Funeral Home. Service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Private burial will be Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Pangburn, who was born in Denison, Iowa, died Thursday.

He graduated from high school in Moscow, Idaho and served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Pangburn worked as a commercial painter and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1435. the Valley Eagles Lodge No. 1858, and the International Brotherhood of Painters Local No. 269.

He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Elliott of Spokane; his companion, Joyce Echevarria of Spokane; a brother, Charles Pangburn of Veradale; and two grandchildren.
