Free guided interpretive hikes are being offered every Saturday through Aug. 23 at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.

Hikers meet in front of the day lodge in the Schweitzer village at 10 a.m. The hikes range from two to four miles on maintained trails that crisscross the resort’s alpine ski slopes.

Hikers should bring items they would take on any hike, including good walking shoes, and a day pack with water and a jacket.

Hikers will explore wildlife, wildflowers and even huckleberries when they finally ripen. Some hikes will require a chair lift ride, but ticket prices will be reduced to $6 for group members. Info: (208) 263-9555. , DataTimes
