“Lisa Marie Suicide Drama” was the headline that blared out from the June 17 issue of the National Enquirer. But for those who can’t help but question the truth of such reports, the headline told only half the story.
Lisa Marie Presley wrote the other half when she sued the Enquirer for defamation, libel and invasion of privacy. “It was completely false,” said her lawyer, Daniel Petrocelli. “The article was completely fabricated.”
But Enquirer editor Steve Coz finds its ironic that Petrocelli used Enquirer photographs of O.J. Simpson wearing Bruno Magli shoes to help win a $33.5 million judgment.
“During the O.J. Simpson civil trial, Mr. Petrocelli used our investigative reporting to help him win victory,” Coz said. “Now, in the Lisa Marie Presley suit, he wants to claim it doesn’t exist.”
