Dollar Higher Vs. Yen And Mark

The dollar closed above 116 yen for the first time in nearly seven weeks Monday and strengthened against the mark on new signs of emerging-market instability and reinforced expectations that Europe’s single currency will be weak.

Rampant selling of the Indonesian rupiah sent the dollar 3.5 percent higher against that currency, the latest evidence of nervousness over financial pressures in an array of developing nations.
