Victim Probably Strangled

From Staff And Wire Reports

A woman whose body was found beside a road here was probably strangled, authorities said Monday.

The victim was identified by the King County medical examiner’s office as Denise Elaine Simon, 31, of Kent. The cause of death was listed as “asphyxia due to probable manual strangulation.”

The body was spotted beside Canyon Road in the East Hill neighborhood on Saturday evening by a 13-year-old boy. The boy told his uncle, who didn’t believe him until the boy insisted and the two went back to the site Sunday morning.

The victim was found with shirt and jacket pulled up to her neck and jeans pulled down to her knees in brush about 15 feet off the road.

Kent police said she had not been reported missing, was unmarried and had no reported history of domestic violence.
