Wright, Bichette Do It All For Rockies

Jamey Wright pitched a six-hitter and Dante Bichette went 3 for 4 with five RBIs as the Colorado Rockies defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-1 Thursday night in Denver.

Wright (5-6) struck out five, walked three and allowed one run for the first complete game of his career and his first win since May 3.

Sammy Sosa was 3 for 3 with a single, double and home run for the Cubs.

Phillies 7, Giants 4

San Francisco

Mickey Morandini and Midre Cummings each had three hits and two RBIs for Philadelphia.

Kevin Stocker homered as the Phillies ended a three-game losing streak.

Mets 3, Dodgers 1

Los Angeles

Rick Reed outdueled Pedro Astacio with eight innings of three-hit ball and New York scored three ninth-inning runs to win it.

Reed (8-4) won his fourth consecutive decision. The righthander, a spring training replacement player with Cincinnati in 1995, gave up three walks and struck out one.

Padres 8, Pirates 6

San Diego

Craig Shipley homered in the first inning and hit a two-out, two-run single to break a tie in the sixth as revitalized San Diego won its fifth consecutive game.

The Padres are the top team in baseball since the All-Star break, having won 12 of 15 games.

Astros 10, Expos 5

Houston

Chuck Carr got three straight hits, including a go-ahead single in the seventh, as Houston notched its sixth consecutive victory.

The Astros won for the 13th time in 16 games, including four in a row against the Expos.
