Light rail needed now

I want to compliment Brian Coddington for the informative article, “Buses, Trains and Automobiles” (Valley Voice, June 28).

I have been serving for some time as a volunteer on the Citizens Advisory Board to the Spokane Regional Transportation Council.

We are faced with several problems including pollution, congestion and lack of accessibility to downtown Spokane.

People do not want to go downtown to shop or attend many events which take place downtown because of the congestion and parking problems.

We favor building a light rail system between Liberty Lake and downtown Spokane as the best solution to our problems.

Spokane is growing faster than some people expected, so let’s solve these problems now. Maurice B. Cauchon Spokane
