Warriors Sign Top Pick Foyle

The Golden State Warriors signed Adonal Foyle, their first-round pick in this year’s NBA draft.

Foyle, the eighth overall pick, signed a three-year contract Friday that can be worth a maximum of $5.1 million under the rookie salary scale.

The all-time NCAA leader with 492 blocked shots, Foyle averaged 20.4 points and 12.7 rebounds over his three-year career at Colgate University. The 6-foot-8 forward/center became the third player in NCAA history to collect 1,700 career points, 1,000 rebounds and 450 blocks.

Foyle, 22, broke his left foot on Tuesday and will be evaluated in September.

A former agent said he gave $40,000 in cash and gifts to Marcus Camby while he was at Massachusetts, and provided additional spoils to former Connecticut star Ray Allen and other college athletes.

John Lounsbury, confirming details in a story in The Boston Globe, said he provided Camby with rental cars, stereo equipment and other gifts from October 1994 through May of 1996.

Portland Trail Blazers coach Mike Dunleavy can’t buy a home in Oregon and has been forced to rent because the Milwaukee Bucks, his former employer, haven’t made good on his severance payments, he contends in a lawsuit. The Bucks were to make semi-monthly payments to Dunleavy from May 15, 1997, through May 14, 2000, plus a “relocation allowance.”

Star UNLV basketball recruit Lamar Odom, upset by what he said were false allegations he cheated on his ACT test, said he will not play at the university and will instead pursue a pro career.
