Mabel Chase Post Falls
Graveside service for Mabel Rose Chase, 83, will be today at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chase, who was born in Milton-Freewater, Ore., died Thursday.
She grew up in the Post Falls area, graduating from Post Falls High School in 1932.
Mrs. Chase was active in the Parent Teacher Association, bringing hot lunches to schools and Little League baseball.
She was a Cub Scout den mother and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Rathdrum and had served as past Worthy Matron and Grand Page for Idaho.
She had also served as Grand Ruth and Grand Representative for Montana.
Mrs. Chase was a member of the Post Falls Senior Citizens and the Post Falls Historical Society.
She had been a rural mail carrier in 1950.
Her husband, Max, died in 1948.
Survivors include two sons, Irving “Max” Chase of Montana and Curtis Chase of Post Falls; two granddaughters, Sherry and Debra; and her companion, Don Matheson of Post Falls.
Michael Roy Coeur d’Alene
At the family’s request, no service will be held for Michael Roy, 41. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Roy, who was born in Pendleton, Ore., died Saturday.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1973 and worked at Potlatch Corp. Mr. Roy later worked as a millwright for Idaho Forest Industries.
He was a member of the Fernan Gun Club.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Neree Roy of Weiser, Idaho; a sister, Shannon Gorham of Pendleton; two nieces and one grandniece.

Ashley St. Pierre Post Falls
Visitation for Ashley Barbara St. Pierre, 5, will be today from 5-8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. George’s Catholic Church in Post Falls. Ashley died Friday from cancer.
She was born in Renton, Wash., and moved to Wallace in 1992 before moving to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1995.
Survivors include her parents, Larry and Marlana St. Pierre of Post Falls; a brother and sister, Christopher and Kendra St. Pierre, both of Post Falls; her grandparents, Clyde and Barbara St. Pierre of Post Falls, Karen Harper of Kellogg and Dave and Betty Whiteman of Cataldo; and two great-grandmothers, Mable Schultz of Pine Creek, Idaho, and Mary Whiteman of Cataldo.
Edna Olson Spokane
Service for Edna Anna Olson, 100, is set for 10:30 a.m. today at the Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Spangle (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Olson, who died Friday, was born in Spangle.
She graduated from Spangle High School and taught commercial subjects at Clayton (Wash.) High School and St. Paul’s School for Girls in Walla Walla.
She also operated the Rohweder Hardware Store in Spangle and served as secretary of the Order of the Eastern Star in Spangle for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Oliver.
Ruby Dickes Spokane
Graveside service for Ruby D. Dickes, 89, was Monday at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dickes, who was born in Lead, S.D., died Thursday.
She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1945 and farmed in Dalton Gardens.
She also worked as a piano teacher, seamstress and homemaker.
Mrs. Dickes was a member of the Veradale United Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Janie Loper of Coeur d’Alene and Darlene Schau of Veradale; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Valma Marcussen Rathdrum
Memorial service for Valma Violet Marcussen, 67, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Burial will be at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum.
Mrs. Marcussen, who was born in North Dakota, died Thursday.
She grew up in North Dakota and moved to Spokane in 1946.
Mrs. Marcussen later moved to Rathdrum and did volunteer work for many years with the Kootenai Humane Society and Hospice of North Idaho.
Mrs. Marcussen had served on the board of directors for the Kootenai Humane Society and had served on the Rathdrum City Council for a year.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold.

Pearl Miller Spokane
Graveside service for Pearl E. Miller, 89, will be 11 a.m. today at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Motley, Minn., Mrs. Miller died Saturday.
She was a longtime Hayden Lake, Idaho, resident where she had served as postmistress.
Mrs. Miller moved to Spokane 13 years ago and was active in the American Association of Retired Persons and the Spokane Valley Senior Center.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred Krauter Spokane
No service will be held for Mildred Margaret Krauter, 92, at her request. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Marshfield, Wis., Mrs. Krauter died Wednesday.
She taught school in Priest River, Idaho, for several years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Pend Oreille Chapter No. 62.
Her husband, Orlo, died in 1985.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Elsie Hobert Spokane
Funeral service for Elsie L. Hobert, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hobert, who was born in Soap Lake, Wash., died Wednesday.
Mrs. Hobert graduated from Ephrata (Wash.) High School and had worked as a school bus driver.
She worked as a dental assistant in the Tri-Cities, Wenatchee and Ephrata and retired in 1975.
She moved to Spokane in 1978 from Kennewick.
Mrs. Hobert was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the Sweet Adelines and sang with the Joy Club.
She is survived by four daughters, Vicki Sainsbury of Spokane, Karen Hobert of Bellevue, Wash., Jo Ann Keele of Othello, Wash., and Alene Bryant of Redmond, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Pearl Hergesheimer Vancouver, Wash.

Mrs. Hergesheimer, a 45-year Spokane resident, died Friday.
She was born in Mountain Lake, Minn.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Gilbert, died in 1970.
Mrs. Hergesheimer moved to Vancouver, Wash. in 1992.
She is survived by a son, John Hergesheimer of Blaine, Wash.; two daughters, Karen Kvam of Albuquerque, N.M., and Sharon Limb of Battle Ground, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
Vickie Jantz Layton Jantz Bonners Ferry
Service for Vickie Jantz, 28, and her son, Layton Denver Jantz, 2 will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View Mennonite Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial will follow at Mountain View Mennonite Cemetery. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jantz, who was born in Bonners Ferry, and her son, who was born in Sandpoint, died Thursday in an truck collision on U.S. Highway 95 south of Silverwood Theme Park.
She grew up and attended Mountain View Christian School near Bonners Ferry and settled on a farm near town.
Survivors include her husband, Lynn and a daughter, Tyanne Jantz, both at home; her parents, Jim and Sharon Wadel of Bonners Ferry; a sister, Carla Wenger of Bonners Ferry; a brother, Darwin Wadel of Arlington, Wash.; and her grandparents, Jesse and Lena Jantz of Alberta and Anna Wadel of Oklahoma.
Sister Ethel Richardson, S.P. Spokane
Funeral Mass for Sister Ethel Alice Elizabeth Richardson, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in East Helena, Mont., Sister Richardson died Saturday.
She graduated from East Helena High School and then worked in an office.
In 1938, she graduated from Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls, Mont., and worked there as assistant head nurse until 1939. During that time she took instruction in the Catholic faith and was baptized.
She worked for various hospitals, including St. Peter Hospital in Helena, Columbus Hospital and the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, N.J.
She entered the Sisters of Providence Novitiate in Seattle in August 1942 and professed her final vows in 1947.
Sister Richardson received her bachelor of science in nursing education from Gonzaga University in 1953, a master of science in nursing education administration from the Catholic University in Washington, D.C., in 1960 and a supervisor certification in pastoral care from St. Vincent Hospital in Portland in 1984.
She was the provincial superior of the Spokane Province (St. Ignatius) from 1968 to 1974 and general councillor in Montreal from 1974 to 1978.
Sister Richardson was a board member of Blue Cross, chairwoman of committees for state hospital and nursing associations in Montana and Washington and president of the Montana State Hospital Association.
Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Jinnett of El Cerrito, Calif., and a brother, David Richardson of Seattle.

Clarice Kerruish Spokane
Service for Clarice F. Kerruish, 87, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Butte, Mont. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kerruish, who was born in Manhattan, Mont., died Friday.
She graduated from high school in Great Falls, Mont. and from Montana Normal School in Dillon, Mont.
She taught school in Deer Lodge, Mont., and moved to Butte, where she was a homemaker and director of Girl Scouts.
She moved to Seattle where she continued in Girl Scouts with the Totem Girl Scout Council until retirement.
Mrs. Kerruish was a 23-year Spokane resident and was a member of the Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church’s Chapter CH, Philanthropic Educational Organization and the Deaconess Medical Auxiliary.
Her husband, William, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Peg McEachran of Spokane; two sisters, Billi LeRoy and Anne Mathews, both of Portland; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fred ‘Freddie’ Schwisow Badger Lake, Wash.
Service for Fred F. ‘Freddie’ Schwisow, 77, was Monday at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville, Wash. Burial was at the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ritzville.
Born in Keystone, Wash., Mr. Schwisow died Friday.
He graduated from Ritzville High School.
He had worked for Boeing in Seattle as a quality control inspector from 1939 to 1945.
Mr. Schwisow served in the Army during the Korean Was and later worked for Levein Koch as a carpenter. He worked for Washington Water Power as a bookkeeper and operated his own carpentry business.
In 1953 he purchased the Modern Dry Cleaners in Ritzville and expanded his business to include Whirpool appliances and appliance repair.
He retired in 1981 and moved to Badger Lake in 1985.
Mr. Schwisow was a member of the Ritzville Volunteer Fire Department and the Ritzville Men’s Golf Association.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maxine; three daughters, Kris Schwisow of Ritzville, Randi Graeber of Stafford, Va., and Nancy Baker of Brewster, Wash.; a brother, Donald Schwisow of Ritzville; three sisters, Phyllis Zeimer of Davenport, Wash., Iris Heider of Lind, Wash., and Lois Seaburg of Tacoma; and six grandchildren.

Mary Renlund Spokane
Memorial service for Mary Doris Renlund, 75, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Heritage Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Elk (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Renlund, who was born in Paris, Mo., died Friday.
She worked as a candler for Northwest Egg Sales and retired in 1965.
She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Renlund was a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution-Esther Reed Chapter, Vasa Lodge, the American Association of Retired Persons Spokane Falls Chapter and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Evert; two sons, Wayne Simpson of Olympia and David Simpson of Spokane; a daughter, Linda Jones of Spokane; five brothers, Jim, Howard, Herbert, Robert and Richard Hickman, all of Spokane; a sister, Joann Smith of Spokane; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruby (Anderson) Wendt Fairfield, Wash.

Mrs. Wendt, who was born in Mullan, Neb., died Saturday.
She taught elementary school and was an 18-year Fairfield resident.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; a son, Dale Wendt of Camas, Wash.; a daughter, Marilyn Beck of Green Bluff; a sister, Pearl Gilbertson of Camarillo, Calif.; a brother, Conrad Anderson of Twin Falls, Idaho; three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Herda Shaw Metaline Falls, Wash.
Memorial service for Herda Shaw, 74, was Sunday at the Metaline Falls Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Shaw, who died Thursday, was born in Venturia, N.D.
She had worked as a waitress and bartender, and retired as a grocery clerk for Dressel’s Grocery in Metaline Falls.
Mrs. Shaw was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge and the Ladies Christian Fellowship.
Her husband, William, died in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Caryle Templeton of Spokane; two sons, Richard Shaw of Metaline Falls and Robert Shaw of Colville, Wash.; a sister, Mary Green of Metaline Falls; and three grandchildren.
