Police Seek Man Who Accosted Girl

From Staff And Wire Reports

Coeur d’Alene police were searching Wednesday for a man who forced a 9-year-old girl into a park bathroom stall before letting her go unharmed.

The man, who was standing next to a drinking fountain near the women’s bathroom Tuesday at the Ramsey Park ball fields, followed the girl inside and pretended to wash his hands, according to a police report.

When the girl started to leave the bathroom, the man grabbed the girl around the waist and carried her to the rear stall. There, he told the girl to open the stall door and pushed her inside, locking the door behind them, the report said.

He then said, “What are you doing?” and left, the girl told police.

The girl, who was attending a work picnic with her mother and baby sitter, peeked out of the bathroom door and saw the man standing on a grassy hill near the parking lot. She ran to her baby sitter and the man left in a red 1980s Ford Granada.

The man was described as white, 35, with a tan complexion, possible acne scars on his face and was unshaven. He was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt with a logo of an animal on the back.

He was last seen driving south on Ramsey Road.
