Martie Zad Washington Post

The story of the young golfer who has exploded onto the sports scene and into America’s consciousness unlike anyone since Michael Jordan is now the subject of a video, “Tiger Woods: Son, Hero & Champion,” due out Tuesday.

The 60-minute cassette is essentially the same piece that aired as a CBS television special immediately before the final round of the recent Masters championship and also includes footage from the his amazing, record-setting performance at Augusta.

The video, a production of Trans World International, is being distributed on the CBS Video label by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment with a suggested list price of $14.98.

In addition to the Masters footage and some commentary by Woods about his golfing life as an amateur that was not on the CBS special, Woods’s video journey includes his appearance at age 2 on “The Mike Douglas Show;” family home movies showing off some of his amazing skill at an early age; his come-from-far-back triumph for a third straight U.S. Amateur title; his PGA Tour debut with a perfect 336-yard drive off the first tee; being honored as 1996 PGA Tour rookie of the year; and his hero’s welcome in his mother’s native Thailand.
