Liberty Seniors Know One Another
Puting our four years of high school into words is like trying to write a thesis on the effects of global warming on boll weevil eating habits.
It’s difficult. But stepping over the difficult part, I realized I still had to write something about our experience.
Instead of putting everything into my own words, I thought it might be interesting to include the whole class and have everybody think of a word that described their four years.
There were the usual words you would expect, like awesome, pointless, uneventful, good-bye and the I-can’t-put-it-into-words. Then I began to notice a different approach when I received roller coaster, lollapalooza, loop the loop, dismantled, harassed, therapy, psychotic, forlorn and 31.
Looking through these words, I began to notice they do represent our high school career. During our four years, no rocks were left unturned and, even though we had down days, we always seemed to pop right up the next day.
I guess with a class of about three dozen students, this is easy to do. With a class this small, we got to know each other very well, whether we wanted to or not.
But, as with this essay, I learned still more about my peers when I received words like swanky, transmogrification, discombobulated, bamboozled, saucemwausum, scintillate, shagadelic, hoocharasmic and gratuitous.
I learned that we never stop learning and that once you think you know someone, you realize there is so much more to learn about them.
