Seniors Good Example For School, Community

Kimberlee Hubbard Riverside High School

The administration and teachers of Riverside High School consider the Class of 1997 to be the friendliest, most successful and most accepting of others.

A new senior, I walked into advanced senior English and was warmly welcomed.

During Frosh Camp, an activity week for the freshmen in the high school, many seniors donated time to be “parents” for the designated “families” of freshman. Seniors worked together and were great leaders for the underclassmen, earning the admiration of teachers, fellow students and the community because they stood as good examples.

Senior officers, along with the school’s administration, debated the issue of graduation. After long thought and an overwhelming vote by parents, teachers and seniors, the Senior class is starting a new trend by moving our graduation ceremony to the Opera House. Overall, community support of the seniors has been tremendous. Several fund-raisers were held this year for the seniors - our all-nighter, awards night and Senior skip day.

The Class of ‘97 at Riverside is accepting of everyone no matter the age, race or hair color.

Noah Gomes, who uses a wheelchair, was voted most spirited by the senior class, earning him special recognition in the school’s annual. We are flexible to change and we accept things as they are.

The seniors have set excellent examples for our school and community, and now we are ready to accept the challenges of the world.
