Man Held After Highway Chase

From Staff Reports

A Pasco man wanted in Oregon was arrested Sunday after a chase down U.S. Highway 95.

Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Larry D. Black, 34, on unspecified warrants issued in Oregon. Once in jail, officials found what appeared to be methamphetamine.

Black now faces likely drug possession charges as well.

The chase started at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday when Black was supposedly on his way to Athol to confront a former girlfriend or wife, police report. The woman called friends - two men and a woman - for help. The three friends spotted Black driving north on Highway 95 near Garwood, said police.

The group confronted Black and someone in the area reported gunshots to police. Black fled the area, heading south toward Hayden, followed by the woman’s friends. Off-duty police officers gave chase.

Police report that the woman’s friends had two handguns, but deputies weren’t sure if any shots were fired.

No other information was available.
