Elmer ‘Hank’ Brown Mead

Service for Elmer Leo “Hank” Brown, 71, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown, who was born in Roundup, Mont., died Sunday.

He served with the merchant marines for a year and worked in logging, on an oil field and for a ship yard.

Mr. Brown was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served with the occupying forces in Japan and Germany, and participated in the Philippine Liberation, the Berlin Airlift, was a Spandau prison guard, and served as a member of the Honor Guard at Berlin Headquarters.

He was later stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he retired in 1964 after 20 years of service.

Mr. Brown received many awards for his service including two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star, the Army Commendation Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Citation Badge.

He later worked for RCA/NATO Tracking Station in Fairbanks, Boeing Supply Depot in Auburn, Wash., and Glazer Brothers in Seattle.

In the 1970s, he moved to Reardan, Wash., and two years ago he moved to Mead.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Roberta; three sons, Tom Brown of Idaho Falls, Les Wilson of Deer Park and Monte Wilson of Elk, Wash.; a daughter, Theresa Dane of Newark, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Donald Longbottom Sr. Spokane

Service for Donald R. Longbottom Sr., 69, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Spokane Valley Baptist Church.

Mr. Longbottom, who was born in Cheney, died Wednesday.

He worked as a furnace operator for Kaiser Aluminium, Trentwood for 32 years before retiring in 1978.

He operated orchards in Green Bluff and in the Spokane Valley, and owned a custom hay baling operation and truck farm for 25 years in the Valley.

He was a member of the International Order of Foresters, the AFL-CIO Union Local No. 338 and the Royal Order of Thrifty Scottsman.

He is survived by his wife, Elsi Jo; two daughters, Patti Nestoss of Greenacres and Judy Fall of Chattaroy; three sons, Donald Longbottom Jr. of Spokane, Gary Longbottom of Olympia and Roger Longbottom of Covington, La.; a sister, Jene Travis of Seattle; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren, Jo Elyn Ashley, Hal Branson and Ron Branson all of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Victoria Conner Airway Heights

Graveside service for Victoria M. “Vickie” Conner, 44, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Conner, who was born in Benton, Ill., died Thursday.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Airway Heights for 22 years.

Survivors include her companion, Lee Williams; a daughter, Maryanne Conner at home; her mother and stepfather, Mary and Jim Bezotte of Spokane; three brothers, Paul and Mark Conner, both of Spokane, and Lyle Conner of California; a halfbrother, David Bruce of Illinois; a sister, Connie Conner of Spokane; and a halfsister, Ginger Bruce of Cheney.

Dismas South Lakehurst, N.J.

Memorial Mass for Dismas Andrew South, 23, will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Spokane. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. South, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died May 30 .

He had lived in Spokane for 14 years before moving to New Jersey six years ago.

Mr. South had worked as a deli clerk for the past two years in New Jersey.

Survivors include four brothers, Daniel and Dennis South, both of Spokane, David South of Montana and Dirk South of Walla Walla; four sisters, Elizabeth South and Vickie Riley, both of Spokane, Cindy Cook of Pennsylvania and Jackie South of New Zealand; and his grandmothers, Mrs. E.A. Bouthilliette of California and Bertha South of Post Falls.

Edna Gustin Priest River, Idaho

Graveside inurnment service for Edna Anna Louise Gustin will be at 2 p.m Tuesday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gustin, 87, died Thursday. She was born in Wrenshall, Minn.

In 1924 she married John Gustin in Bigfork, Minn. He died in 1982.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Priest River for 46 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Naccarato of Moses Lake, and Darlene Coleman and Texanna Keyser, both of Priest River; two sisters, Anita McFall of Spokane and Ruby Clark; two brothers, Quinten Larson of Sandpoint and Rodney Larson of Priest Lake, Idaho; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Clarence Hipp Moscow, Idaho

Private service for Clarence K. Hipp, 84, will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hipp, who was born in Saluda, N.C., died Thursday.

He had worked as a supervisor for Washington Water Power in Post Falls for 35 years.

Mr. Hipp was a member of the Masonic and Moose Lodges, the Washington Water Power Trail Blazers, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He moved to Moscow four years ago.

Survivors include two sons, Kay Earl Hipp of Spokane and Vincent Hipp of Colorado Springs; three daughters, Louise Kalamarski of Spokane, Marilyn Bacon of Lewiston and Patsy Candler of Clarkston, Wash.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Henry Roullier Spokane

Service for Henry O. “Hank” Roullier, 82, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Missoula, Mr. Roullier died Friday.

He had worked as a truck driver for Central Pre-Mix and Corrugated Metals.

Mr. Roullier was a 45-year Spokane resident and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish.

His wife, Madge Roullier, died in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Juanita Newcomb, and a son, Larry Roullier, both of Spokane; three sisters, June and Pearl Ashley and Valerie Matt, all of Pablo, Mont.; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Ernest Myers Auburn, Wash.

Service for Ernest W. Myers, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Myers, a former Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

He was born in Cartwright, N.D.

He had worked as a plant superintendent for Western Soap and was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Elks Club.

Mr. Myers moved to Auburn in 1992.

His first wife, Lucille, died 1949. His second wife, Myrle, died in 1984.

Survivors include a son, Robert Myers of Auburn; three brothers, Harold Myers of New Castle, Wash., and Raymond and Edward Myers, both of Spokane; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Clarence Hilby Spokane

Private service for Clarence Blain Hilby, 74, will be held at a later date. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hilby, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and served in the Army during World War II in Europe.

He had worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service from 1946 until he retired in 1980.

Mr. Hiley was a member of the Moran Prairie Grange.

There are no surviving family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson’s Association.

Darlene Dickey Seaside, Ore.

Private service was held for Darlene Ruth Dickey, 57, in Seaside, Ore.

Mrs. Dickey, who was born in Spokane, died May 25.

She graduated from North Central High School and worked as a legal secretary and paralegal for several law firms. She later worked as a self-employed document specialist.

In 1995 Mrs. Dickey moved to Oklahoma, and eight months ago she moved to Seaside.

Mrs. Dickey is survived by two sons, David Hayden of Seaside and Thomas Hayden of Seattle; a daughter, Denise Graybeal of Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; two brothers, Darrel Dickey of San Diego and Aaron Dickey of Colorodo Springs; four sisters, Charlotte Hise of Colorado Springs, Diane Dickey of Vancouver, Wash., Dolores Dickey of San Francisco and Grace Pennington of Spokane; and five grandchildren.
