Two Forest Areas To Open For Firewood
Firewood-cutting is open in two areas of the Idaho Panhandle Forests beginning Friday.
A firewood cutting permit and fire safety equipment are required.
One of the areas is the Curran Creek Road - Forest Service Road 1601. To reach the area from Coeur d’Alene, take Interstate 90 to the Rose Lake exit.
Take the Rose Lake exit, turn left, and drive to old state Highway 10. Turn left on Highway 10 and drive approximately one mile to Forest Service Road 1601. Take road 1601. Signs will be posted on the road indicating wood cutting areas.
The second wood cutting area is on the Wallace District. To reach the area, drive to Prichard.
From Prichard, take the River Road north to Shoshone Creek. Turn onto the Shoshone Creek Road - Forest Service Road 412 - and follow it to the junction with Forest Service Road 1516.
Follow the 1516 road to the posted firewood cutting areas.
