Record Hoopfest Field Takes In Most Of Waiting List

Hoopfest, Spokane’s annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament, will fea ture a record of more than 4,500 teams.

Hoopfest organizers accepted most of the 442 teams on a waiting list. Last year’s tournament drew a record 3,903 teams.

Hoopfest is the largest tourney of its kind in the world.

The June 28-29 event will take place downtown. Each team that receives a confirmation letter may pick up an information packet from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 27 at Riverfront Park.

Packets include player shirts, first-game time, court location, an event guide and general information.

American Legion baseball

Wet grounds at Gonzaga University Thursday forced postponement of the Spokane AAA game between the Royals (1-0) and Cannons (2-0).

Wednesday, the Bandits opened their season with a 10-1 victory over the North Stars (0-3) at Whitworth College. Robert Bartlett had four RBIs in support of Sean Ruscio, who struck out seven in five innings.
