Mexican Consulate Honors Dan Ramirez

Dan Ramirez, director of the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs and a former Sen. Kempthorne assistant, was recently honored by the Salt Lake City-based Mexican Consulate on behalf of the Mexican government, for his service to the Idaho Hispanic community.

Ramirez was presented with the annual Othli Award - ‘Othli’ meaning ‘to open the way.’ The award is presented on behalf of Mexican communities abroad of the secretariat of foreign affairs of Mexico.

The Lake City Harmonizers recently hosted a Four-part Harmony Convention and Contest with participants from Washington, Oregon, Canada, Montana and Idaho.

Judges from California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington scored entrants in singing, presentation and sound. The convention was held at the Coeur d’Alene Inn and the contest took place at Lake City High School.

Contest winners will be entitled to compete at the Evergreen District Contest in Tacoma later this year.
