Donald Weeks Moscow, Idaho

Memorial service for Donald Lee Weeks, 77, will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church in Moscow. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weeks, who was born in Centralia, Wash., died Wednesday.

He attended schools in Garfield, Wash., and graduated from Moscow High School, where he participated in track, football and basketball.

He attended the University of Idaho, and in 1940 joined the Idaho National Guard.

Mr. Weeks became a commissioned officer in the Army Air Corps in 1943, and served as a pilot and heavy bomber instructor during World War II. He was transferred to the Air Transport Command in Cairo, Egypt, before being discharged in 1946.

After his military service, he lived in Moscow and worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for John Milton Construction. He retired as shop foreman for the University of Idaho physical plant in 1983.

Mr. Weeks was a member of the Inland Empire Senior Golf Association, University of Idaho Retirees Association, Idaho Road Runners, Vandal Booster Club and the Moscow Elks Club and golf program.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Agnes; and a daughter, Barbara McKean of Wisconsin.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the University of Idaho Arboretum.

Harold Cole Sr. Glenwood, Wash.

No service will be held for Harold E. Cole Sr., 81. Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cole, who was born in Haysville, Kan., died June 6.

He worked on the family farm in Kansas, and later traveled the Northwest and Southwest selling paintings. He later worked for the Santa Fe Railroad.

Mr. Cole served in the Navy during World War II and later farmed in Buffalo, Kan.

In the 1950s he sold the farm and worked on the modification team on B-52 bombers for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan.

He moved to Airway Heights in 1957.

He and his wife, Ellen, operated a variety store in Airway Heights and both later worked for the state of Washington at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake.

His wife died in 1976, and he moved to Visalia, Calif. He later moved to Caldwell, Kan., and moved to Glenwood in 1995.

Mr. Cole is survived by a son, Harold Cole Jr. of Glenwood; a sister, Gladys, a brother, Virgil, both of Caldwell, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Velma Eacker Spokane

Service for Velma E. Eacker, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today at Fourth Memorial Church. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Eacker, who was born in Chester, Mont., died Thursday.

She graduated from Cheney High School and Whitworth College.

She taught English at North Central High School and later taught at Whitworth College for 10 years.

Mrs. Eacker also taught at Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College in the business department. She retired from SFCC in 1986.

She was a member of Fourth Memorial Church.

Mrs. Eacker is survived by her husband of 46 years, Wayne; two sons, Paul and John Eacker, and a daughter, Cindy Kemano, all of Spokane; a sister, Irene Beeson of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Harold Ross Spokane

Graveside inurnment service for Harold W. Ross, 79, was Saturday at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mr. Ross, who was born in Calgary, Alberta, died Thursday.

He was 70-year Spokane resident and had worked as a supervisor for Kaiser Aluminum.

Mr. Ross was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2, the Deer Park Masonic Lodge No. 134, Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Sons of Norway.

His wife, Esther, died in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Winnie Moore of Spokane, and Rosalie Jean Duffy of Great Falls, Mont.; a son, Gary Ross of Phoenix; three sisters, Laura Barnes and Wilma Froman both of Spokane, and Iona Trull of Colton, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission Shelter for Men or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Robert Kearns Spokane

Graveside memorial service for Robert J. “Bob” Kearns, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kearns, who was born in Philadelphia, died Tuesday.

He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in fine arts, history and political science and served in the Army during World War II in France.

Mr. Kearns had worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 26 years. He retired in 1980.

He had lived in Spokane for 50 years and was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2.

His wife of 23 years, Isabelle, died in 1989.

There are no surviving family members.

Wilma Brimacomb Spokane,

Service for Wilma G. Brimacomb, 88, will be at 2 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Brimacomb, who was born in Edison, Wash., died Thursday.

She had owned a restaurant in Plummer, Idaho, for several years and later moved to Coeur d’Alene, where she owned Wilma’s Cafe from 1960 to 1970.

Mrs. Brimacomb retired and moved to the Seattle area, and in 1977 moved to Spokane.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Hobson of Priest River, Idaho, Betty Nelson and Cleta Amsden, both of Spokane; a son, Richard Walkup of San Francisco; a brother, Harold Arp of Spokane; two sisters, Bernita Harp and Reva Michaelbook, both of Tekoa, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Ruthann McClain Colville, Wash.

Service for Ruthann McClain, 67, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Colville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McClain, who was born in Stites, Idaho, died Wednesday.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Daisy-Gifford HomeEc Club.

Mrs. McClain is survived by two daughters, Vicki Gifford of Gifford, Wash., and Judy Hofstetter of Chewelah, Wash.; two sons, Jim McClain of Colville and Robert McClain of Turlock, Calif.; a brother, James Swaim of Colville; and 10 grandchildren.

Mary Costello Spokane

Funeral Mass for Mary B. Costello, 94, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Costello, who was born in Scotland, died Wednesday.

A 79-year Spokane resident, she worked as a floral designer for 24 years and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Her husband, John, died in 1966.

Mrs. Costello is survived by two sons, Daniel Costello of Spokane, and Vincent Costello of Freemont, Calif.; a daughter, Virginia McFarland of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-greatgrandchildren.

Mary Nicodemus Spokane

Family memorial service for Mary M. Nicodemus, 80, will be today at the home of Gavin Cooley. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nicodemus, who was born in Alberta, died Wednesday.

She moved to Spokane in 1952 and she and her husband, Nick, operated a ranch in the Reardan, Wash., area.

They later retired and moved to Hayden Lake, Idaho, and then to Bayview, Idaho, on Lake Pend Oreille.

Her husband died in 1990 and she returned to Spokane.

Mrs. Nicodemus is survived by a daughter, Barbara Cooley of Spokane; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Whittlesey Clark Fork, Idaho

Memorial gathering for Kenneth Raymond Whittlesey, 85, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Senior Center in Clark Fork. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Whittlesey, who was born in Colorado, died Wednesday.

He worked as a rancher in Colorado before retiring and moving to River Lake Estates in Clark Fork in 1979.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen; a son, Norman Whittlesey of Pullman; a daughter, Myra Lewis of Clark Fork; two sisters, Lilly Brandt and Mildred Wilson, both of Colorado; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dayle Williams Moscow, Idaho

Memorial service for Dayle Irene Williams, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Mrs. Williams, a retired University of Idaho secretary, died Thursday.

Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Mich., she graduated from high school in Michigan and attended Western Michigan University, majoring in mathematics.

Mrs. Williams moved to California and worked as a secretary before moving to Moscow in 1946, where she was a homemaker.

In 1968, she went to work as a secretary at Moscow High School for five years before working for the University of Idaho history department, retiring in 1987.

Mrs. Williams was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Moscow, the Moscow AB Chapter PEO, Daughters of the Nile, Job’s Daughters Bethel 11 and was a 4-H leader.

She was also active in Meals on Wheels and the Moscow Public Library.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Richard; four daughters, Susan Borowicz of Elk City, Idaho, Julianne Thomas of Oregon, Becki Veal of Dallas, and Carol Posluszny of New York; a brother, Bob Martin of Missouri; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Moscow Public Library, 110 Jefferson, Moscow, ID 83843; or the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
