As promised, Dennis Rodman didn’t curse. Phil Jackson spoke in less time than it takes the 24-second clock to expire. Michael Jordan dedicated the Bulls’ fifth title in seven years to the city’s “working people.”

That was the scene as tens of thousands of fans crammed into Chicago’s Grant Park for a 38-minute, relatively low-key, ho-hum-it’s-another-championship celebration.

NBC’s coverage of the NBA Finals between the Bulls and Utah Jazz drew the second highest rating in Finals history, with a Neilsen rating of 16.8 and a 30 share.
