Ex-Olympians Shine
Former Olympians Cathy O’Brien and Joan Benoit-Samuelson finished 1-2 among the female cyclists in their first attempt at the grueling Mount Washington road race. Craig Fram of Plaistow, N.H., won the men’s race.
O’Brien, of Durham, N.H., who raced in the Olympics in 1988 and 1992, led from early in the 7.6-mile uphill test and finished in 1:12.24.
Benoit-Samuelson of Freeport, Maine, the 1984 Olympic marathon champion, finished in 1:16.03. Her time broke the record for women 40 or over.
