Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Your mother was my guiding light when I was a young bride. I read her column in The Times-Picayune in New Orleans.

Two of her hints I have never forgotten! The senior Heloise said to never, never wear clothing without a fitted waistline. She said the muumuu or empire style would let your waist thicken without your knowledge.

Heloise Senior also said that a clean dust mop was the best thing to use in dusting the baseboards, paneled doors, the base of tables and the top of bookcases, anything above the floor.

I have followed these and many other hints for over 40 years. My waist is bigger, but it hasn’t crept up on me! - Jimmie Pilati, Russellville, Ala.

I agree on both counts. If the waist is tight, it’s time to eat light. It was nice to hear that my mother’s hints still help you. - Heloise
