Jordan Eric Jackson, however, must first make it out of the maternity ward. He was born Wednesday to Olympic star Sheryl Swoopes and Eric Jackson at St. Mary Hospital.

Swoopes and Michael Jordan are good friends.

She and her husband asked the Chicago Bulls star if the boy could be named after him.

“He put his hand on my stomach and said it was OK,” Swoopes said, through spokesman Greg Abel.
