Griese: No Mercy

Compiled From Wire Services

Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese asked a judge to give long sentences to two armed robbers who terrorized his wife in a 1995 driveway robbery.

“My wife is a very different person since a gun was stuck to her head and she was told, ‘Shut up or I’ll blow your brains out,’ ” Griese told Dade Circuit Judge Michael Genden. “I ask that you put these men away for a long time.”

Genden sentenced Frank Johnson, 25, to life in prison and Glenroy Salmon, 24, to 40 years.

A third man convicted in the case, Lumbarto Jones, already pleaded guilty and received a 12-year sentence.

The robbery occurred just before Christmas in 1995 when Griese’s neighbors Charles and Susan George pulled into their Coral Gables driveway. Shay Griese was walking a dog nearby and the gunmen made all three lie on the Georges’ garage floor and stole money and jewelry.
