Lisa Mcree To Be Co-Host Of ‘Good Morning America’

From Wire Reports

ABC has chosen Lisa McRee, an anchorwoman at its Los Angeles station, KABC, to replace Joan Lunden as co-host of “Good Morning America” in the fall, said network executives who spoke on condition of anonymity.

McCree previously worked for ABC News in New York as an anchor on the overnight news program “World News Now” and as a correspondent on the news magazine program “Day One.”

With “Good Morning America” languishing in second place in the ratings behind NBC’s “Today,” Lunden announced May 27 that she would be leaving after 20 years on the program, the last 17 as host. She said she would work on developing prime-time specials for ABC.

Charles Gibson is the program’s other host.

Elizabeth Vargas, whom ABC hired away from “Today” a year ago to be the news reader on “Good Morning America,” was widely thought to be in line to succeed Lunden. ABC News said Thursday that Vargas has been named a featured correspondent for three major network newsmagazines as well as a weekend anchor for “World News Tonight.”
