Spokane Athletic In First After Four Straight Wins
Suddenly hot Spokane Athletic Supply won four straight times going into Friday’s game at Cheney and cooled off Olympic Sports in the process.
But Olympic remained one of two University High baseball teams to contend in their respective American Legion leagues as the season approaches its midpoint.
Despite stumbling against rival SAS (Central Valley), Olympic Sports is third in the AA Legion South Division.
The AAA combine team Bandits, which includes players from U-Hi, Freeman and Ferris, is second in the highest division.
Spokane Athletic swept Olympic Sports 14-13, 13-3 last week. The team also blanked Future Shop (EV) on Rob McGlothin’s one-hitter and outslugged Strike Zone (WV) 18-5.
Chad Adamson, Bret Johnson and Mike Taska provided the offense for the 5-7 team.
Olympic Sports is 8-4 after bouncing back to win twice. Five players had a multihit game against Strike Zone, including Josh Thompson with three.
Three had two-hit games against Grocery Outlet, including Chris Barth, who tripled and doubled.
The Bandits are a game out of the AAA lead after scoring 43 runs in three victories.
Aaron Fryer and Brett Haiar had six hits apiece, Haiar hitting safely in all three games.
