Bullet Pierces Window On 35th Floor Of Hotel

Compiled From Wire Services

A bullet apparently crashed through a window and landed in a 35th-floor room of the Waldorf-Astoria, a hotel frequented by President Clinton and other dignitaries.

A maid at the expensive midtown Manhattan hotel found a broken window and a bullet in the room Thursday, law enforcement officials said. The room was vacant and no one was injured, police spokeswoman Sara Carpenter said.

Police said the small-caliber bullet appeared to have been fired from a long distance, but it wasn’t known where the shot had been fired from. Authorities gave few details, not even saying which side of the hotel was hit.
