Good Shepherd Lutheran Auction Funds Youth Camp
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan Road, is holding an auction Sunday to raise money to send kids to summer camp.
A silent auction of 40 items will be held after the 8:30 a.m. worship service and an oral auction of 36 additional items will be held after the 11 a.m. service. All proceeds will be used to send the church’s youth to camp.
Items up for auction include an fresh crawfish feed for eight people, authentic Hungarian and German meals for two, a variety of gift baskets, house-cleaning services, a homemade pie every month for a year, car washes, hauling and pruning services, gift certificates from area businesses, and pool parties.
Refreshments will be served during the auctions.
World Day of Prayer service
The World Day of Prayer will be observed with a special worship service at 1 p.m. Friday at Spokane Valley Baptist Church, 1222 S. McDonald Road.
The service, sponsored by Church Women United, will have the theme “Like a Seed Which Grows into a Tree.” It will be based on the parables of Jesus that use the images of seeds.
The service has been prepared by Christian women from South Korea and will feature Sue and Rachel Burford, who recently traveled to South Korea. For more information, call 924-1234.
Pastor’s class starts Sunday
A new pastor’s class is starting Sunday at Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines.
The class, which will meet each Sunday at 9:30 a.m., is for those interested in joining the church or who simply want to refresh the basics.

Free concert at Pines Baptist
All are invited to attend a free concert featuring the Burchfield Brothers and the Gospel Bluegrass Band at Pines Baptist Church, 714 S. Pines. The concert will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday. A free will offering will be collected to help cover costs.
