Andre Watts Performs At Symphony Benefit
Andre Watts, one of the world’s top pianists, is the guest artist tonight at a benefit concert for the Spokane Symphony.
Watts, 50, became a star at age 16, when he performed a televised concert with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Leonard Bernstein. Watts has toured Europe and performed for presidents.
To help the symphony make up money lost in last November’s ice storm, Watts is performing at a reduced fee and symphony musicians are donating their services.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. in the Opera House. Tickets are $20, $30 and $40, and are available in advance through the symphony box office (624-1200) or G&B Select-a-Seat (325-SEAT).
