Key to the game: Shannon Russel supplied the defense and Megan Yerxa dominated on offense for the Broncos (25-4). Russel, a junior, held Eagles senior sensation Tricia Lamb to 12 points through three quarters and Yerxa, a sophomore, hit 10 of her 16 shots from the floor and finished with a game-high 22 points.

Other highlights: Ritzville held the Eagles (23-6) to just two points in the second period on 1-of-14 shooting. The Broncos outscored St.-John Endicott 19-0 from the 6:58 mark of the second quarter to the 5:10 mark of the third - a span of 9:48.

Key to the game: Alyssa Erickson poured in 16 first-half points as the Wildcats (23-5) jumped out to a 28-10 halftime lead. A swarming Wilbur-Creston defense held Nannies senior Marcy Stennes, who came into the tournament averaging just over 21 points, to just two points and 0-for-13 shooting.

Other highlights: The Wildcats held the Nannies to 21 percent (8 of 38) shooting for the game. WC turned the ball over just 10 times and outrebounded Pateros 34-27.

Key to the game: Only three players scored for the losing Ducks (20-7) and they took 38 of the team’s 39 shots from the floor. Sally Palmer had a game-high 19 points for the Nighthawks (24-4). Tekoa-Oakesdale hit 14 of 21 free throws, while the Ducks made just 7 of 17.

Other highlights: The Nighthawks dominated the first and last quarters by a 2-1 margin - 29-14. T-O dominated the boards, 38-25. The Nighthawks’ Heather Cox topped all rebounders with eight.

Key to the game: The Crusaders (22-5) took control in the second period when they outscored the Invaders (24-3) 18-9. Sophomore Cara Prins and seniors Heidi Broekkhuis and Karen Glover combined to for 47 points for the Crusaders.

Other highlights: Sophomore Lexi Rhodes and senior Yuuki Terada scored 37 of Summit’s 45 points. Rhodes scored 19 and grabbed 16 rebounds, 10 at the offensive end. The Invaders outrebounded Watson Groen 42-29. The Crusaders forced 22 turnovers, while turning the ball over just 13 times themselves.

Key to the game: The Coyotes (22-5) held the Mountaineers (22-5) to 22 percent (11 of 51) shooting from the floor. Kittitas held Rainier’s high-scoring senior, Chante Schutz, to eight points. Schutz averaged 24 points in the Mountaineers’ first two games.

Other highlights: The Coyotes’ Lindsay Hart, a freshman point guard, had eight steals in the game. Alyssum Myrick had 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead Kittitas. Cynthia Savoca snagged 11 rebounds and Nikki Reeves scored 11 points to pace Rainier.
