Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I used a method you had in your column for clearing a slow-draining sink. It worked wonderfully! But now that I need it again, I can’t find the clipping.

Can you please reprint this information for me? I really need it. - A Memphis Reader

This is one of my favorite hints because it works well and is easy to do. Plus, it’s cheap. All you need is to 1 cup baking soda and 1 to 2 cups vinegar. First, pour the soda into the drain, then the vinegar. It is normal for the solution to bubble up and fizz like crazy. Leave it for 2 to 3 minutes or so. Then it’s very important to rinse the drain, using plenty of hot water, for at least a minute or two. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I found that the measuring cup that is left over from powder detergent works very well for a potting-soil scoop. - Robin Yarnall, Zanesville, Ohio
