The brother and sister duo have performed throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Violinist Helen Hwaya Kim made her debut with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 6. Pianist Michael Injae Kim also debuted with the Philharmonic, at the age of 15. Both were trained at the Julliard School of Music.

The program will include Beethoven’s Sonata in G major, op. 30 no. 3; Brahms’ Sonata No. 1 in G major, op. 78; Bizet’s Concert Fantasy on Carmen, op. 25, and several other pieces.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for youths under 18. They can be purchased in advance in Sandpoint at Eve’s Leaves, the Panhandle State Bank and The Lyman Gallery. Tickets also will be available at the door.

For additional ticket information, call the Pend Oreille Arts Council at (208) 263-6139. The concert is part of the council’s “It’s Happening in Sandpoint” series.

Celtic artist at Met

Patrick Ball, known as the world’s premier Celtic harp player, is also an adept storyteller of old Irish folklore and history. Now the artist, who released several albums in the ‘80s and ‘90s, has become an actor.

For his current tour of the country, Ball has collaborated with playwright Peter Glazer, who wrote and directed “Woody Guthrie’s American Song,” to produce a one-man show titled “O’Carolan’s Farewell to Music.” Ball will perform the musical at 8 tonight at The Met.

“O’Carolan’s Farewell to Music” is a combination of dialogue and music that tells the life story of 17th- and 18th-century Irish harpist, poet and composer Torlough O’Carolan.

Tickets are $12, available at Street Music, G&B Select-a-Seat outlets, or call (800) 325-SEAT.

Metaline Falls theater comedy

The Cutter Players in Metaline Falls, Wash., will present the classic Moss Hart-George S. Kaufman comedy “You Can’t Take It With You” this weekend.

This play, one of the most-performed of all American plays, is a farce about an eccentric New York family. It consists of a daughter who writes plays that no one will produce, a son-in-law who makes fireworks in the cellar and a selection of other characters.

The Oxford Companion to American Theater calls it “one of the greatest of all American farces.”

The Cutter Players production runs Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the historic Cutter Playhouse in Metaline Falls. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the door or reserved by calling (509) 446-4108.
