UI Chooses Three Finalists For Provost
The University of Idaho trimmed a pool of 75 candidates for its provost position to three Friday.
The finalists are all deans at universities in the West. They include:
Loren Crabtree, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and history professor at Colorado State University, where he’s worked since 1967.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Minnesota in 1961, a master’s degree in Asian studies in 1965 and a Ph.D. in history/Asian studies in 1969.
Brian Pitcher, dean of the College if Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Utah State University. Pitcher has served in a variety of administrative posts at Utah State and teaches in the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology from Brigham Young University in 1973 and 1974, respectively. He received a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Arizona in 1978.
Risa Palm, dean of the University of Oregon College of Arts and Sciences and a geography professor.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in history and social studies education from the University of Minnesota in 1964, her master’s degree and Ph.D. in geography from UM in 1969 and 1972, respectively.
The three finalists will interview at sites throughout Idaho this month and in early April.
