Wv Eagles Dance Team ‘Terrific’ In National Contest

Up against larger teams from the South, the West Valley High School dance team nevertheless came home covered in glory.

The 19-member dance team earned a superior rating in its division at a national competition in Orlando, Florida, last week. That’s equivalent to placing fourth among about 15 teams.

“They were absolutely terrific,” said Adair Holman, dance team advisor. “And there’s a lot of competition down South.”

Some teams as large as 40 to 60 girls had fancier costumes, props and choreography.

But West Valley’s hard work and enthusiasm paid off.

“We practiced every single night about three and four hours for the last couple of months,” said Nicole Stephens, team captain. “It all just started coming together, we got all pumped, all excited. And we did really good.”

What was the most fun of all, though? “Going to DisneyWorld … the Tower of Terror at MGM Studios,” Stephens said.

Team members include: Monika Anderson, Tawsha Box, Lindsay Closs, Andrea Conroy, Jennifer Eubanks, Nikki Froewiss, Shannon Goodsall, Anna Gutto, Stephanie Hanenburg, Becky Kuntz, Frances Lewis, Jene Mackey, Libby Oswald, Jessica Pease, Jennifer Thieleman, Andrea Thomas, Abby Traut and Kim Williams.
