Youth For Christ Event Planned For Thursday
Beth Ann Long, a Christian recording artist, and Russ Smith, recently voted Showtime’s Funniest Man in America and the executive director of the Greater Missoula Chapter of Youth for Christ, will be featured at Spokane’s YFC’s Ministry Challenge and Dessert.
Desserts for Thursday’s annual event, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Road, will be provided by the Culinary Arts School at Spokane Community College.
The group’s goal is to raise $7,000 for ministries to serve Spokane youths.

A bit of Ireland
“A Celtic Celebration” to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day, will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Spokane Civic Theatre.
The celebration, sponsored by the Spokane Spiritual Center, founded by Irish ministers Austin and Mary Hennessey, will include dancing by the Haran Irish Dancers, Irish melodies sung by Thara Cooper, and traditional music performed by the Celtic Nots.
The Hennesseys will present a special St. Patrick’s Day message.
There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be collected.
Seder meal, song and dance
A Messianic Jewish Passover celebration, with a Seder banquet and a praise-and-worship service in song and dance, will be April 21 at the Ridpath Hotel.
A free workshop to teach dances for the celebration will be from 4 to 6 p.m. April 5 at Grace Baptist Church, 1523 W. Mallon. The workshop is open to the public.
Registration for the Passover event will begin at 3:30 p.m., and the doors will open at 5. Tapes and literature will be sold from 3 p.m. until sundown.
Child care will be provided for 75 cents an hour per child.
