Rain Forest To Be Re-Created In Florida
A tax lawyer who never has been to a rain forest is giving $1 million to a botanical garden to build a small version of the tropical ecosystem as an educational tool.
Saving the world’s rain forests is “the major environmental issue of our time,” said donor Robert Kramer.
“A rain forest is a celebration of life, and we cannot let this get destroyed,” he said after the gift was announced Saturday at the annual members meeting at Fairchild Tropical Garden.
The $1 million will be donated in $100,000 installments over the next 10 years, restricted to rain forest preservation research.
