Razorbacks Earn Trip To New York Nit

Tarik Wallace and Pat Bradley combined for 21 points early in the second half as Arkansas opened an 11-point lead on the way to an 86-73 victory over Nevada Las Vegas in the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday night at Fayetteville, Ark.

UNLV (22-10) led by six as late as a minute deep into the half, but the Razorbacks (18-12) outscored the Rebels 32-15 during the next 8 minutes. The run included three 3-pointers by Wallace, two by Bradley and one by Glendon Alexander. The spurt ended with two baskets by Kareem Reid that made it 63-52.

Wallace scored a career-high 23 and Bradley added 20. Clark led UNLV with 17.

The Razorbacks earned a trip to New York and a semifinal match-up against Notre Dame or Michigan on Tuesday. The finals are next Thursday.

Florida St. 76, West Virginia 71

At Morgantown, W.Va., James Collins scored 24 points and injuryplagued Corey Louis came off the bench for 14 as the Seminoles (19-11) beat the Mountaineers (20-10).

Florida State (19-11), playing in the postseason for the first time in four years, advanced to face the winner of Friday’s Connecticut-Nebraska game in the semifinals at New York.
