Police Pursue Intoxicated 12-Year-Old Motorist

A Latah County sheriff’s deputy pursued an intoxicated 12-year-old motorist early Wednesday morning after the boy committed a traffic violation.

The boy was charged with felony eluding an officer and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. His 17-year-old passenger was charged with minor consumption.

The boys were driving a Dodge Omni owned by the older boy’s parents when the deputy tried to pull them over for a traffic violation.

The boy sped up in an effort to lose the deputy, at which point he backed off to avoid an accident. The deputy later found the car at an intersection. The boy had failed to turn a corner and had driven onto a lawn. , DataTimes
