Astronomy Club Invites Public To View Comet

From Staff Reports

Comet watchers can get neighborly Friday, when the Spokane Astronomical Society holds an evening Hale-Bopp party near Airway Heights.

The public viewing of comet Hale-Bopp will start around 6 p.m. and last until 10 at the Group Health Northwest office, 5615 W. Sunset Hwy.

The West Plains location replaces the earlier announced Five Mile School site, which would not be adequate to handle expected traffic.

If viewing Friday night is poor, the amateur astronomy club will try again Saturday evening at the same place.

Telescopes and binoculars will be available for use by the public, said Mickey Moreau of the Spokane Astronomical Society.
