Idaho Dept. Of Education Announces Essay Winners

Mon., March 31, 1997

The Idaho Department of Education recently announced the winners of “Write On Idaho” essay contest. Winning essays were selected from entries from more than 50,000 kindergarten through 12thgrade students in Idaho’s 112 school districts.

The theme was, “Favorite Place in Idaho to Visit.” Students were divided into four grade categories: K-3, 4-6, middle school-junior high and high school. Winners will receive a certificate of achievement and have their writings displayed on the second floor of the state capitol for two weeks.

North Idaho winners and their schools are listed:

Moscow School District: Frank Gardner and Jared Vreeland, both of Moscow Junior High School; Stephanie Lunning, West Park Elementary.

Potlatch School District: Therra Alexander, Tara Beebe, Kaitlyn Britt, Dusty Kerns, Jamie McGreal, Shaylee Politte, Kay Westacott and Carly Westacott, all of Potlatch Elementary.

Whitepine School District: Andrew Dalton, Bovill Grade School; Reimer Hagen and Elisa Johnson, both of Deary School; Katherine Clayton and Katie Jenkins, both of Troy Elementary.

Coeur d’Alene School District: Tasha Adney, Borah Elementary; Alisha Carrico and Andrew McAllister, both of Canfield Middle School; Samantha Lindsay and Erin Roan, both of Fernan Elementary; Georgia Burke and Mallory Nehlich, both of Ramsey Elementary; Kelly Foster and Christina Timmer, both of Hayden Lake Elementary.

St. Maries School District: Eula Carney, Myriah Fuller and Kyle Joiner, all of Upriver Elementary; Jenna Robinson and Kyndra Kells, both of Heyburn Elementary.

Plummer-Worley School District: Crystal Chapman and Jacob Harding, both of Lakeside Middle School.

Bonner County School District: Heather Bennett and Jessica D’Orazi, both of Southside Elementary; Megan Aplanap and Cassie Kiebert, both of Hope Elementary; Brianna Clow, Tyler DeMers, Madison Erickson, Jessica Jones, Sarah Lasky, Laura Loutzenhiser, B.J. McFarland, Kyle Parkin, Scott Slack and Nathan Smith, all of Idaho Hill Elementary; Felicia Logue, Priest River Elementary; Clinton Artaway and Glenn Gollen, both of Sagle Elementary; Whitney Palmer, Sandpoint Middle School; Jennifer Lund and Jesse Petty, both of Farmin Elementary School; Ben Lockwood, Northside School; Ryanne Pilgeram, Sandpoint High School; Jade Coggins and Megan Mori Kawa, both of Stidwell Elementary.

Boundary County School District: Kelley Standal and Brennan Tymrak, both of Valley View Elementary School.
