Lcsc Wins Championship

Perennial NAIA baseball power Lewis-Clark State College scored seven runs during a messy second inning Sunday on the way to a 13-2 victory over Gonzaga University that allowed the Warriors to win the Guardian Heating and Air Condition Tournament.

After slugger Bucky Jacobsen tripled across two runs in the first inning and scored on a sacrifice fly to put LCSC in front 3-2, the Warriors combined seven walks, two singles and three Gonzaga errors to break the game open in the second. LC State improved its record to 19-5-1. Gonzaga fell to 11-12-1.

Both Gonzaga runs, the product of Brendan Hare’s two-out single in the first inning, were unearned.

NIC nine romps

Jason Bay’s three hits, including a double and his third home run, drove in five runs as North Idaho College (7-6) topped the .500 mark by trouncing Prairie Academy of Lethbridge, Alberta, 11-1.
