Ferris Orchestra Receives Superior Ratings At Festival

The Ferris High School Orchestra received superior ratings during the recent EWMEA Orchestra Festival at Eastern Washington University. The Ferris Chamber Orchestra received the highest point total for the day, including one perfect score.

Also, the chamber orchestra received a special merit Gold Award at the EWMEA solo and ensemble.

Patti Chen, Emily Chong and Dan Delaney received a Gold Award for their piano trio, and Anna Fisher, received a Gold Award for her string bass solo.

Army Pfc. Brandon Brundage graduated from the motor transport operator course at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.

Brundage is the son of Richard and Katherine Brundage, Medical Lake, and a 1996 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

John McLean, a senior studying architecture at Washington State University, received a $400 Dave Scott Honorary Award for Outstanding Architectural Student and a $500 Eric Hedeen Memorial Scholarship.

McLean, a 1991 graduate of Colfax, Wash., High School, is the son of Tresa McLean and Gordon McLean, both of Colfax.

Steve Thompson, a senior studying pharmacy at Washington State University, received a $1,500 Donald J. McLeod Memorial Scholarship.

Thompson is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta, honor societies.

A 1975 graduate of Shadle Park High School, he is the son of Betty Thompson, Spokane, and the late Jerrold Thompson.

Ryan Michael Looney, Veradale, was named to the Dean’s List for winter quarter at Eastern Oregon State College.

To qualify, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum of 12 credit hours.
