Three High School Seniors Selected April Scholars

National Merit commended student Mike Waggoner, a senior at Coeur d’Alene High School, has been selected Scholar of the Month for April by the Exchange Club of Kootenai County.

A National Honor Society member and Renaissance student, Waggoner has been honored as a Top Scholar by the University of Idaho. He has been active with the Junior Statesman of America, serving as convention coordinator for the Inland Empire Region.

Among his club memberships are the Chess Club, Debate and D.E.C.A. He has earned varsity letters for academics, scholastic team and track. He has also worked as a certified ski instructor and computer research assistant.

A son of Bill and Gloria Waggoner of Coeur d’Alene, he plans to attend Carleton College majoring in mathematics or physics.

Jeffrey Fealko, a senior at Lake City High School with a 4.0 grade-point average, has been selected as the April Scholar of the Month by the Coeur d’Alene Rotary.

Fealko has also received the University of Idaho Top Scholar Award, the Youth Volunteer Excellence award and has been named in Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

He has been active in college prep courses, the Youth Volunteer Food Drive, Apple Corps, cross country, and has received athletic and academic letters. He is president of the calculus club.

Ted Burke Jr., a senior at Post Falls High School, has been chosen as the Coeur d’Alene Elks Lodge No. 1254 Student of the Month for April.

A National Honor Society member, Burke has participated in the Duke University Talent Identification program, National Junior Honor Society and the Florida Potential Key Scholar.

He has received the Post Falls High School Academic Achievement Award.

Burke, a son of Ted and Teresa Burke, is a member of the marching and jazz bands, and Civil Air Patrol.
