Pro Football Fans Snap Up Carolina Panthers Tickets

Carolina Panthers fans took just 2 hours to buy the remaining 70,000 tickets for this season’s 10 home games. That’s 583 tickets a minute.

The Panthers, in their third season, sold the tickets Sunday at dozens of ticket outlets and at a lottery at the 72,000-seat Ericsson Stadium, where the line snaked halfway around the building. Prices ranged from $35 to $45 a ticket.

“It’s tremendous support,” said ticket manager Phil Youtsey.

It also shows what a 12-4 regular-season record and an appearance in the NFC championship game will do for ticket sales.

Most of the other tickets had been sold to season-ticket holders.

The Panthers open the regular season at home against the Washington Redskins on Aug. 31. Perhaps the toughest ticket in town will be the Dec. 14 game against the Green Bay Packers, who beat Carolina in the NFC title game and went on to win the Super Bowl.
