Three From Lakeland Junior High Recognized

Lakeland Junior High has announced the Students of the Month for March:

Kurt Larson, ninth-grader and son of Mark and Lisa Wenig of Rathdrum; T.J. Russell, eighth-grader and son of Kerrel and Kathy Bell of Rathdrum; and Nathan Herbst, seventh-grader and son of Adam and Susan Herbst of Rathdrum. Students were selected on the basis of involvement in extracurricular activities, positive attitudes, citizenship and willingness to learn. They will receive a Lakeland Hawk logo sweatshirt donated by local businesses.

George Hatley of the Appaloosa Museum in Moscow recently received the State Museum Award from the Idaho Association of Museums.

Hatley, who was nominated by Sue Emory, director of the Appaloosa Museum, was cited for demonstrating exceptional dedication to the museum over an extended period.

Hatley was commended for his vision and personal donations and was credited with the creation of the Appaloosa Museum in the 1970s.

MaryAnne McNeil’s second-grade class at Coeur d’Alene Holy Family Catholic School recently gained recognition from parents and teachers with their Astronomy Class Projects.

Student participants included: Chynna Nibler, Isiah Conde, Sally Roberts, Kevin McLeod, Michael Paquin, Clayton Klukas, Braden Davis, Mallory Taylor, Shea McHugh, Timothy Schrieber, Justin Traw and Joshua Byrd.

Projects consisted of a solar-system quilt, T-shirts, a night light, three-dimensional models, and pictures with emphasis on the location of Coeur d’Alene on the earth, relationship to other planets and the Hale-Bopp comet.
