Wal-Mart To Open New Store June 18

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has officially set the date.

The nation’s largest retailer will open its first Spokane store at the corner of Sullivan and Interstate 90 on June 18, said Sharon Weber, a Wal-Mart spokesperson.

The 134,000-square-foot store will comprise 36 general merchandise departments, including apparel, accessories, jewelry, lawn and garden, health and beauty, electronics and a pharmacy. The store also will feature a McDonald’s restaurant.

Wal-Mart anticipates hiring 215 people to serve as department managers, clerks, cashiers and sales associates.

Wal-mart operates 17 stores and employs 4,337 people in Washington state. , DataTimes
