Ev, Colville Split Tuneup For Playoffs
East Valley and Colville split a doubleheader Saturday to earn a Tuesday rematch in the District 7-AA baseball tournament.
Bill Tincup had two runs batted in and scored three times as EV rallied from an 8-0 first-game loss to beat visiting Colville 15-12 in a Frontier League season-ender.
Colville finished 10-8 in league, four games behind champion Cheney and one back of second-place West Valley. EV tied Pullman and Clarkston for fourth, at 9-9, but advances to district because it won two of three league games from both.
EV and Colville open district at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Valley. The winner meets WV later in the afternoon; the loser meets the second-game loser Saturday.
Jason Spears struck out nine and Jared Bateman had two RBIs in Colville’s win.

Mike Hobbs hit a grand slam and a two-run homer in the first game, and the Greyhounds swept the visiting Bantams to knock them out of the playoffs.
Opening-game winner Jack McDonald fanned nine. In the second game, Andy O’Fallon had a two-run single and Aron Cummings a two-run double in a five-run sixth.
