Schlichter was sentenced Friday for violating probation (received for a federal bank fraud conviction) by writing $175,000 in bad checks. … Joanie Weston, known as the “Roller Derby Queen” and one of the top female sports stars of her time, died of a rare brain disease. She was 62. Weston, who began in the Roller Derby in the 1950s, also was known as the “Blonde Bomber”.
